About John Moore Security Ltd

About Us

History

Established in March 1987, John Moore Security Ltd began by providing quality electronic security systems in Kingston upon Hull and the surrounding area, as then, Humberside.

Initially a husband and wife team, the business expanded steadily throughout 1987 and 1988. In March 1989, the company acquired its first business, and was the first non-approved NSCIA company to acquire an approved company. A total of 600 contracted customers joined the expanding list of existing customers within the already established operating area.

A period of steady growth followed, and with the operating area expanding onto the south bank of the River Humber; Scunthorpe and Grimsby were now providing the company with the opportunity to promote our services outside the Hull area.

As the company continued to grow, it was apparent that the initial rented property was too small for the increasing business and workforce, therefore, a larger property with a higher profile was required.

In 1992, the company relocated to its present offices in Anlaby Road, Hull, being large enough to cater for any future expansion.

A further local acquisition took place in 1994 adding a further 700 customers. This was followed over the next two years by a number of subsequent acquisitions locally, and as a consequence, this increased administration levels considerably.

A period of consolidation followed, and together with the inevitable organic growth, ensured that the company was both financially secure and in a position to plan for future expansion.

An opportunity to expand out of the established operating area, arose in the year 2000 when the company acquired Apex Alarms in Doncaster, South Yorkshire, a long established and well respected company. This was again followed by further acquisitions in Rotherham and Pontefract which provided the company with further consolidation into South and West Yorkshire.

By now the company was enjoying a period of exceptional growth, combined with the knowledge that penetration was being made into markets such as local government, police and authorities, education and blue chip companies all combining to increase the company profile.

Further acquisitions have been made in Barnsley and Doncaster ensuring that a strong operational base has been established in South and West Yorkshire, together with East Yorkshire and Lincolnshire.

Additional operating centres were opened in Brigg near Scunthorpe and Grimsby, after acquisitions were completed in each area. This was to provide a more efficient support service to the ever increasing customer base in North and North East Lincolnshire.

Present

Today, John Moore Security Ltd is one of the largest independent electronic security companies in the North of England.

With a turnover in excess of £4,000,000 and a combined contracted customer base of over 15,000 customers, the company employs approximately 60 employees.

Administration is co-ordinated from the head office in Kingston upon Hull, and together with a local branch network, each with its own experienced manager, efficient local operation has been achieved.

Sales, installations and service support are carried out within the local branch area with any corrective faults attended to day and night within 4 hours.

John Moore Security Ltd is a NSI Gold approved member of the National Security Inspectorate (NSI) for the installation and servicing of Intruder Alarm Systems, Access Control System and Closed Circuit Television Systems. Fire Alarms are also included in our portfolio of services. We also provide a nationwide support scheme via our associated group of companies NASIC.

Future

It is envisaged that the company will continue to expand both organically and by acquisition in order that our own exacting targets will be achieved.

Introduction of integrated security systems together with IP based systems and signalling will ensure that the company will be at the forefront of the industry, and well placed to take advantage of the changes in technology in the future years.
